The research program at Park Horse Project may involve the systematic collection and analysis of Equine-assisted therapy data related to the efficacy and benefits of using horses in therapeutic interventions. Our program may involve collaboration between professionals in the fields of medicine and veterinary science, as well as experts in equine behavior and training. Participation is by individual or guardian authorization only.
The program may begin by defining research questions and hypotheses, such as:
The research may likely involve both quantitative and qualitative methods, such as surveys, interviews, physiological, behavioral observations and quality of life measures. Potential measures of outcomes could include changes in mood, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, social skills, physical function, and quality of life. Researchers will also assess the safety and ethical considerations of working with horses in therapy.
Fact-based results from our research program may provide empirical evidence of the efficacy and safety of equine-assisted therapy, and help to inform best practices in the field and its impact on quality of life for program participants. For example, results could demonstrate that equine-assisted therapy is an effective intervention for reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety in individuals with Parkinson's disease.
Fact-based results of our equine-assisted therapy may include:
At Park Horse Project, we will implement a well-designed research program on equine-assisted therapy to provide valuable insights into the therapeutic potential of working with horses and clients with Autism Spectrum disorder and Parkinson's disease.
